Cambridge Libraries

There are over 100 libraries in Cambridge.

Each library is unique, with its own rules, opening times and borrowing rights. These are all listed in the Libraries Directory.

The biggest library is the University Library (UL) on West Road and is run by the University Librarian.  It is a Legal Deposit library, so (in theory) gets a copy of every book published in the UK.

Most of the department and faculty libraries are also run by the University Librarian, so share certain features, like access to Electronic Legal Depost.

Undergraduates automatically have access to a college library, a department or faculty library, and the UL, but can access almost all the others by asking at that library.

You can search the catalogue of almost all the libraries from one place, iDiscover.
